Refund & Cancellation Policy

How the ₹100 participation contribution is refunded or cancelled. This applies to private (unaided) schools only — all other institutions participate free of charge and have nothing to refund.

Last updated 31 August 2026

1. Scope

This policy covers the ₹100 per-participant participation contribution collected through the Jago Yuva, Jago Bharat platform. The contribution applies to private (unaided) schools only. Government, government-aided, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and other Ministry-sponsored-track schools participate free of charge, so this policy does not apply to them.

2. The contribution

The contribution is ₹100 per participant, inclusive of any applicable taxes. The amount payable is computed by Advaita Ashrama on the server from the school’s funding type and participant count. A payment acknowledgement is provided on request; no separate tax invoice is issued.

3. General rule

The contribution is non-refundable once registration is confirmed, because confirmation immediately grants access to the reading materials and entitlement to participate. Refunds are made only in the specific situations below.

4. When refunds are made

We refund the contribution in these cases:

  • Duplicate or erroneous charges — the same contribution was collected more than once, or an amount was charged in error.
  • Payment captured but registration not completed — money was taken but, due to a technical error, the corresponding registration was not completed.
  • Over-collection — the school paid for more participants than it rostered, provided the request is raised before the registration deadline.

5. How refunds are processed

Approved refunds are made to the original payment method through our payment gateway, normally within about 7 working days of approval. Refunds are processed manually by the JYJB Team, so we may ask for the payment reference (order ID or the UPI/bank reference) to locate and verify the transaction.

6. What is not refundable

Except for duplicate or erroneous charges and payments captured without a completed registration — which we refund whenever they come to light, whatever the timing — the following are not refundable:

  • requests made after the registration deadline;
  • requests made once evaluation of entries has begun; and
  • a participant’s decision not to take part after registration was confirmed.

7. Cancellation & withdrawal

An institution can cancel a student’s participation by removing that student from its roster. Removing a student before the contribution is paid avoids the charge for that student. Withdrawing a student after payment is subject to the general rule and exceptions above.

8. How to request a refund

Email jagoyuva@advaitaashrama.org from the Coordinator’s registered email with the school name, the Coordinator’s name, and the payment reference. We acknowledge a request within about 3 working days and decide it within about 15 working days, reviewing it against this policy before we confirm the outcome. Approved refunds are then paid as described above.
